Kelly is postdoctoral researcher working with Rob Hester at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne. She is currently exploring feedback and learning from errors in spelling and math. Her background is in cognitive and developmental psychology, and her main research interests are in understanding patterns of change in cognitive and emotional aspects of learning. She uses a variety of latent longitudinal analytical methods to examine processes that contribute to learning and cognitive development. Kelly completed her PhD in 2015 at the University of Melbourne, for which she was nominated for The Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD Thesis. Her thesis investigated how anxiety and cognition interact within a class period to affect mathematical problem solving. Kelly has also worked research characterising general and mathematical cognitive development, particularly in the context of arithmetic and algebra.
