PIAGET, EXECUTIVE FUNCTION, AND THE PRE-FRONTAL CORTEX: THE BRAIN, THE CLASSROOM AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

Thursday March 17th, the University of Melbourne,

What does Neuroscience tell us about Piaget’s seminal theories?  More generally, does neuroscience have anything to offer education that good teachers do not already know?  This seminar will describe the many links between Piaget’s theory and brain research, and provide a theoretical but practical way in which neuroscience findings are being translated into classroom practice.

Greg Donoghue is a researcher and lecturer with the Science of Learning Research Centre at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, and is currently completing his PhD in educational neuroscience.

Scott Bolton is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Program Evaluation at The University of Melbourne.  He spent three years teaching as part Teach for Australia program while completing his Master’s degree thesis linking neuroscience and classroom education.
